Tech giant Meta has launched Muse Spark, its first significant artificial intelligence model since a major investment push nine months ago. Unveiled Wednesday, Meta claims Muse Spark surpasses its previous technologies in intelligence and speed. The company's investment in the AI sector includes a substantial $14.3 billion commitment to Scale AI and the recruitment of its co-founder, Alexandr Wang, to lead Meta Superintelligence Labs. This initiative has seen Meta actively hire top talent from competing AI firms.
Muse Spark is designed for advanced reasoning, capable of tackling complex scientific, mathematical, and health-related queries. Meta collaborated with over 1,000 physicians to enhance its medical advice capabilities, ensuring factual and comprehensive responses. The model will integrate into Meta's digital assistant across its app and website, and will also be available on Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
Meta plans to introduce a "contemplating mode" for its app and site, employing multiple AI agents to process complex tasks in parallel, aiming to rival advanced models like Gemini Deep Think and GPT Pro. Founder Mark Zuckerberg stated Meta's objective is to develop AI that acts as proactive agents, performing tasks for users rather than just engaging in conversation. Unlike its prior open-source AI models, Muse Spark is not publicly available for download, marking a strategic departure for the company. Currently, Muse Spark is exclusively accessible in the United States.
