Meta is cutting 1,395 jobs across King County, Washington, with layoffs beginning July 22, 2026. The reductions include 699 positions at its Bellevue office, 259 across two Seattle offices, 206 in Redmond, and 231 remote workers statewide.

The filing, submitted to Washington’s Employment Security Department, is part of a broader restructuring that has displaced roughly 8,000 employees globally, about 10% of Meta’s total workforce. The cuts started May 20, 2026.

Earlier this year, Meta slashed approximately 1,500 jobs from its Reality Labs division-the metaverse and AR/VR unit-representing 10-15% of its headcount. In March, another 168 King County positions were eliminated.

Industry analysts say the layoffs reflect a strategic reallocation toward artificial intelligence, moving resources away from slower-growth areas like parts of Reality Labs. CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s shift signals AI as the new priority inside Meta.
