Meta Platforms unveiled two new prescription Ray-Ban smart glasses on March 31, aiming to expand its AI-powered wearable lineup.
The new models, Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics and Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics, will be available at optical retailers starting April 14. They feature adjustable hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and temple tips tailored for individual face shapes.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg emphasized the importance of vision correction tools, stating that "billions of people wear glasses or contacts." The glasses are priced at $499 in the U.S., with a $200 add-on for prescription lenses.
Meta’s previous model, the Ray-Ban Display glasses, was released last year at $799 but faced delays due to supply constraints. The company continues investing heavily in personal superintelligence through innovative AI-enabled devices.
Global smart glass shipments are projected to grow from 9.6 million units in 2023 to 13.4 million by 2026, according to IDC.
Meta collaborates with EssilorLuxottica, the owner of Ray-Ban, to develop these cutting-edge products.
