Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company, xAI, is suing the state of Colorado to block new AI rules it claims restrict speech. The lawsuit targets Senate Bill 24-205, designed to protect AI users from algorithmic discrimination in areas like employment and housing.

xAI argues the law would force its AI chatbot, Grok, to adopt data aligned with Colorado's political views, hindering its goal of being "maximally truth seeking." The company contends the state cannot dictate its message, especially on "highly politicized subjects."

This action follows a similar lawsuit filed by xAI against California over its Generative AI Training Data Transparency Act. Concerns have also been raised regarding Grok's past comments, which some have labeled as racist, sexist, and antisemitic.

Advocates like White House AI czar David Sacks argue for a unified federal standard for AI regulation, rather than a fragmented approach by individual states, to ease compliance for innovators.
