Netflix has completed the acquisition of InterPositive, a stealth-mode AI filmmaking startup founded by actor and director Ben Affleck. The deal, disclosed in a recent financial filing, was valued at $587 million in cash.
The startup develops artificial intelligence tools specifically for post-production workflows. The technology is trained on raw production footage to help fix missing shots, correct lighting issues, and resolve continuity errors.
The acquisition is a full operational integration, not a simple technology license. Affleck will join Netflix as a senior advisor to help promote AI adoption among its creative talent.
The all-cash structure and the implied valuation of over $36 million per employee signal Netflix views this AI capability as a core strategic investment for its future content production.
