March 26: Netflix has increased prices on all its plans in the U.S., as the company moves into new programming formats like video podcasts and live sports.
The ad-supported tier now costs $8.99, up from $7.99, while the standard plan rose to $19.99, an increase of $2. The premium plan is now $26.99, up from $24.99.
Adding an extra member now costs $7.99 for ad-supported plans and $9.99 for ad-free plans.
Netflix, which has over 325 million subscribers, eliminated its cheapest ad-free plan in 2023, leaving users with more expensive options.
Analysts predict a 6% rise in average revenue per subscriber in the U.S.-Canada region by 2026.
The company last raised prices early last year and reported $12.1 billion in revenue for the October-December period, slightly above estimates.
In February, Netflix stepped back from bidding for Warner Bros' assets, allowing Paramount Skydance to acquire the studio in a $110 billion deal.
