Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang blasted the narrative that connects artificial intelligence to job cuts, calling it a 'lazy' excuse that 'doesn't make any sense.' In an interview with CNA, Huang argued that CEOs blaming recent layoffs on a technology that only became broadly useful six months ago are being irresponsible and scaring people.

Huang emphasized an optimistic future where AI creates more jobs than it eliminates, citing historical parallels with the personal computer. He warned workers: 'You're not going to lose your jobs to AI, you're going to lose your job to somebody who learnt AI better than you.'

He predicted that companies leveraging AI will become more productive and profitable, leading to increased hiring. Using Nvidia as an example, Huang noted the company is accelerating its ambitions and expanding its workforce, adding that tasks once thought to take a decade now take one or two years.

The comments come amid reports of AI-linked layoffs, including Standard Chartered's plan to cut over 7,000 roles and Meta's reported workforce reduction of 20% or more.
