Nvidia and SK Hynix have announced a major multiyear technology partnership to develop next-generation memory, including high-bandwidth memory HBM4 and HBM4E, aimed at powering the global expansion of AI factories. The announcement came on June 7-8, as the semiconductor industry faces demand far outstripping supply.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang warned that current memory and semiconductor shortages are likely to persist for several years, covering wafers, packaging, and every layer of the chip supply chain.

As part of the deal, SK Hynix plans to double its wafer production capacity over the next five years to keep pace with AI demand. The partnership extends beyond memory to AI infrastructure, personal AI, and robotics.

SK Hynix has long been Nvidia’s largest memory partner, but this new framework formalizes a deeper, co-development relationship from the ground up rather than simple component sales.
