Nvidia, the US semiconductor giant, has reached a market capitalization of $5.7 trillion, surpassing the entire economy of Germany, which has a projected 2026 GDP of $5.45 trillion according to the IMF. This milestone makes Nvidia larger than every European economy, including the UK, France, Italy, and Spain.
Previously surpassing Japan and the UK, Nvidia now overtakes Germany, the world's third-largest economy. The top five US companies by market cap-Nvidia, Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon-total $20.81 trillion, exceeding the combined GDP of Europe's five largest economies at $18.14 trillion.
No European company matches the scale of US tech leaders. Dutch chipmaker ASML ranks highest in Europe at 21st globally with $610.69 billion. Swiss Roche and UK-based AstraZeneca follow with $335.1 billion and $286.84 billion, respectively.
While market cap and GDP measure different economic values, the comparison underscores the extraordinary growth of US technology firms.
