Nvidia Corp. has invested $2 billion in Marvell Technology Inc., marking a major strategic move in the AI chip space.
The partnership centers on NVLink Fusion, a technology that allows custom ASICs-like those from Marvell-to connect seamlessly with Nvidia GPUs. This collaboration enhances data center performance by enabling high-speed interconnects between chips within and across servers.
Marvell's expertise in optical interconnects and silicon photonics complements Nvidia’s AI infrastructure ecosystem. Together, they aim to accelerate the development of AI compute systems.
This investment follows Nvidia’s recent $4 billion stake in optical networking firms Lumentum and Coherent, highlighting the tech giant’s push to reduce costs and boost efficiency in AI data centers.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated, “Token generation demand is surging, and the world is racing to build AI factories.”
The collaboration also spans 5G network development through Nvidia Aerial, further expanding into digital twins and AI-powered networking solutions.
