OpenAI and Anthropic are now both offering multi-agent AI capabilities for enterprise customers, allowing systems to coordinate, delegate, and execute complex tasks autonomously.
Anthropic released Claude Managed Agents in public beta on April 8, 2026, featuring hosted infrastructure for long-running autonomous agents with built-in sandboxing and orchestration. OpenAI has enhanced its Codex and Frontier offerings with similar features.
Anthropic first introduced “agent teams” in its Opus 4.6 model in February 2026, enabling parallel task execution. The company reports a 90.2% performance improvement from multi-agent systems over single-agent setups. OpenAI’s approach allows multiple AI agents to collaborate on tasks previously requiring significant human coordination.
Enterprise adoption is already underway, with Notion, Rakuten, and Asana using AI agents for project management, HR, and software development.
Neither company has referenced crypto tokens in connection with their multi-agent launches. Scaling these systems requires significantly more compute, and the cost of achieving these performance gains will determine how quickly adoption moves beyond early adopters.
