OpenAI is amending its agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense, CEO Sam Altman announced Monday. The changes aim to clarify principles regarding the use of OpenAI's services.

Altman stated the updated deal includes an affirmation that Pentagon services will not be utilized by Department of War intelligence agencies, such as the NSA. Any services provided to these agencies would necessitate a subsequent contract modification.

This development follows OpenAI's recent announcement of a deal to deploy its technology within the Defense Department's classified network.
