OpenAI is preparing to integrate its AI video generator, Sora, into ChatGPT. The move, reported by The Information, expands OpenAI's multimodal AI capabilities, positioning Sora as a competitor to text-to-video tools from Meta and Google.
While text-based AI models are widely used, generative video and image tools represent a new frontier for technological disruption. OpenAI launched Sora as a standalone app in September 2025, allowing users to create and share AI-generated videos, including those derived from copyrighted content.
The company intends to continue operating the standalone Sora app alongside the ChatGPT integration.
