OpenAI President Greg Brockman testified Tuesday that the company expects to spend $50 billion on computing power this year, a dramatic increase from roughly $30 million in 2017.

Brockman’s testimony came during the trial in Oakland, California, where Elon Musk is suing OpenAI. Musk claims the ChatGPT maker improperly converted from a nonprofit to a for-profit entity and abandoned its charitable mission.

A source told Reuters in February that OpenAI is targeting roughly $600 billion in total computing spending through 2030.
