Pawn America, a chain operating in Minnesota and Wisconsin, has agreed to pay $3.185 million to settle a class action lawsuit over a 2021 data breach. Hackers gained access to the company's network around September 28th, 2021, with the attack discovered on October 3rd. Customers were notified on November 19th, 2021.
The breach impacted at least 530,000 individuals, exposing full names, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, passport numbers, dates of birth, and financial account information.
Settlement class members can claim up to $5,000 for documented losses directly resulting from the breach. Those without documentation can receive $30; California claimants are eligible for $50. The settlement includes approximately $1 million for attorneys' fees.
Claims must be submitted by July 6th. The deadline to object is June 5th, with a final court hearing scheduled for September 9th.
