Indonesia's largest mobile operator, PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Tbk., is undergoing a significant techco transformation. The company is collaborating with applied AI solutions provider Quantiphi Inc. and Google LLC to establish a sovereign AI ecosystem across the nation's vast archipelago.

This initiative aims to democratize AI, especially for the large population that speaks Bahasa Indonesia and other local languages. Indosat, along with PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk., has launched Sahabat-AI, an open-source large language model ecosystem designed to prevent "digital colonization."

Vishal Gupta, chief techco transformation and procurement officer at Indosat, emphasizes that this transformation requires a complete reimagining of the organization, anticipating a future where "agent workers" will significantly outnumber human workers. Quantiphi focuses on making AI adoption seamless, prioritizing user trust through robust observational capabilities before widespread scaling.
