Skild AI, backed by Nvidia and SoftBank, has deployed its artificial intelligence model on Foxconn’s Houston assembly lines where Nvidia’s Blackwell GPU server racks are built. The companies describe this as an early commercial deployment of generalized physical AI.

The startup plans to partner with ABB Robotics and Universal Robots to embed its software across industrial units, aiming to supply what it calls a general-purpose “brain.” CEO Deepak Pathak notes this approach offers extreme scalability compared to traditional, single-task programming.

This development aligns with accelerated U.S. efforts to rebuild domestic manufacturing capacity. New production investments totaling $1.2 trillion were announced for 2025, yet executives warn large-scale reshoring depends heavily on automation.

Meanwhile, SoftBank intends to acquire ABB’s robotics business for $5.38 billion, while Skild AI raised $1.4 billion earlier this year valuing the firm above $14 billion.

Nvidia Vice President Deepu Talla emphasized the necessity of autonomous factories to support half a trillion dollars in U.S. infrastructure planned over the next three to four years.
