The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved Nasdaq’s plan to test blockchain-based versions of stocks that trade like traditional shares. This integration involves the Depository Trust Company (DTC) handling clearing and settlement. Nasdaq participants can now opt for trades settled as blockchain-based tokens. Tokenized shares will have the same rights, ticker, CUSIP, and follow existing market rules.
