SpaceX CEO Elon Musk clarified Thursday that the company only agreed to a short-term lease of its Colossus AI training data center clusters to Anthropic, contradicting earlier reports of a multi-year commitment.

"SpaceX has not committed to leasing Colossus for years, although it's possible that may be what happens," Musk wrote on X. He confirmed the deal is a 180-day lease with a mutual 90-day cancellation notice thereafter. Musk added the short-term arrangement was SpaceX's request, not Anthropic's, citing potential compute needs.

The clarification comes as SpaceX prepares for its highly anticipated IPO.
