Samsung Electronics is rolling out ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to employees worldwide, marking one of OpenAI’s largest enterprise AI deployments to date. The announcement, made on June 11-12, 2026, represents a dramatic about-face for a company that banned generative AI tools entirely just three years ago.

Samsung is deploying ChatGPT Enterprise alongside Google’s Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude, building a multi-vendor AI stack across its global workforce.

In March 2023, Samsung engineers accidentally leaked sensitive source code through ChatGPT, prompting a company-wide ban on generative AI tools. A reversal was initiated in late 2025, with a partnership between Samsung SDS and OpenAI to manage these deployments, making Samsung SDS the first Korean entity authorized for this purpose.

The rollout includes Codex, OpenAI’s coding agent, designed to assist developers in code tasks with a focus on enhanced security. Training is expected to complete by the end of 2026.
