Samsung Electronics has shipped samples of its next-generation HBM4 memory chips to customers worldwide, sending shares up roughly 6%.
The sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory chips are designed for the massive parallel processing that AI data centers demand. The company's market capitalization has surpassed $1 trillion, making it only the second Asian company to reach that milestone after TSMC.
In Q1 2026, Samsung posted a record operating profit of 57.2 trillion won, an eightfold increase from a year earlier, driven by AI memory demand.
Samsung is competing with SK Hynix and Micron in the HBM market. The samples are being shipped to Nvidia, AMD, and hyperscale cloud providers for validation.
