Sam Altman's World has launched a significant upgrade to its World ID protocol, introducing account-based architecture for "proof-of-human" verification. This move aims to address the growing challenge of bots and AI-generated traffic online.

The new system expands partnerships with major platforms. Tinder is broadening its verification for U.S. users, while Zoom is integrating World's deepfake detection technology. Docusign will also offer World ID support for document signing.

World, co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, previously relied heavily on its iris-scanning Orb device. The company is now broadening its verification methods beyond the Orb, offering more accessible ways to prove human identity across the internet.

New tools include Concert Kit, designed to prevent bot-driven ticket scalping by requiring human verification for event access. World is also collaborating with Vercel and Okta to bring human-in-the-loop verification to developers and API builders.

The rollout occurs as Worldcoin's network reaches 18 million verified humans globally. The expansion reflects an increasing urgency for verified human identity in social networks and financial systems, driven by advancements in AI.
