Proton has announced a major update: its encrypted email service now integrates directly with Gmail. Users can link their existing Gmail accounts to Proton Mail, sending and receiving messages from their Google address without sacrificing privacy.
Proton strips all ads, spam, and tracking pixels from Gmail messages, and prevents Google from monitoring how users interact with their inbox. For communication between two Proton-connected Gmail accounts, end-to-end encryption is fully supported.
To set up, users open Proton Mail, go to Settings, choose 'Import via Easy Switch,' and connect their Gmail account. The feature is rolling out gradually.
