The U.S. government has authorized AI company Anthropic to release its advanced Claude Mythos 5 model to a limited group of "trusted partners."
A Commerce Department letter seen by Reuters confirms the approval, noting more than 100 companies and institutions, including many Fortune 500 firms, now have access to the technology.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated that Anthropic collaborated with the government to address security risks outlined in a previous directive.
A department spokesperson emphasized the goal is to maintain America's global AI leadership while safeguarding national security.
