Mysten Labs, known for the Sui blockchain, has launched Walrus Memory-a portable memory layer designed to give AI agents persistent context across different applications, sessions, and providers. Co-founder Kostas Chalkias argues that memory, not compute, is the "real bottleneck" in AI development.

Walrus Memory allows agents to carry context between apps and maintain coordination over long-running workflows. It integrates with major AI models including Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, and offers plugins for OpenClaw and NemoClaw, ensuring developers are not locked into a single provider.

Cryptographic tools like zero-knowledge proofs enable agents to perform contextual verification, while programmable access control ensures users retain ownership and transparency over their data. Chalkias claims Walrus Memory has demonstrated up to 60% improvements in ranking and filtering, moving beyond simple storage to a full memory management layer for AI.
