Authorities received a call just after 10 a.m. leading them to the 4300 block of 14th Street NW. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle with two deceased children inside. Homicide investigators were immediately called to the scene.
Inspector Darren Smith of the Calgary Police Service stated the deaths are considered suspicious. He confirmed one individual has been taken into custody but said investigators are still working to determine the identities of the children.
“We do not believe there is a risk to public safety,” Smith added.
14th Street, a major northwest artery, has been closed in both directions as police collect evidence and the medical examiner processes the scene. Officers are expected to remain on-site for several hours.
