Kuala Lumpur/Jakarta - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has urged the United States and Iran to pursue a diplomatic off-ramp, calling for urgent international action to prevent further escalation of the conflict.

"Israel’s initiation of these strikes was a vile attempt to sabotage ongoing negotiations and to drag other nations into a conflict that could prove impossible to contain," Anwar stated, warning that the Middle East is now on the "edge of catastrophe."

Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto has offered to travel to Tehran for mediation talks, stating he is "prepared" to conduct diplomacy if agreed upon by both the US and Iran.

Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs echoed calls for restraint, prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy while emphasizing respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Other Southeast Asian nations, including Vietnam, have also voiced deep concern, calling for maximum restraint, cessation of escalatory actions, and the peaceful resolution of differences in accordance with international law.

The escalating conflict follows reported Israeli and US strikes on Iran, which resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his family members, and significant infrastructure.
