Australian police announced Tuesday they have found human remains believed to be those of 85-year-old Chris Baghsarian, who was kidnapped from his Sydney home on February 13. Authorities described the incident as a case of mistaken identity, emphasizing that neither Baghsarian nor his family have any ties to criminal elements.

Remains were discovered near a golf club in Pitt Town. "We suspect those remains to be Mr Baghsarian," stated New South Wales Robbery and Serious Crime Squad Commander Andrew Marks. He described the family as "deeply upset" and condemned the "recklessness" of the perpetrators. Police are awaiting forensic examination for positive identification.

Investigators believe the kidnappers intended to target a relative of a convicted armed robber associated with the Alameddine crime network.
