EU and Gulf ministers have issued a strong call for Iran to immediately cease its "indiscriminate" attacks across the region. The ministers warned that these strikes threaten both regional and global security.
During crisis talks Thursday, foreign ministers from the EU and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries condemned the attacks, which have targeted Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Oman. A joint statement declared the Iranian actions "unjustifiable" and a direct threat.
Ministers affirmed the GCC states' right to self-defense against the escalating missile and drone assaults. Despite the heightened confrontation, the EU and Gulf nations reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue and diplomacy for a lasting solution.
Key diplomatic efforts will focus on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and halting its production and proliferation of ballistic missiles and drones. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas noted challenges in supplying air defense systems due to high global demand, emphasizing the need to accelerate production.
