French prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation into Elon Musk and his social media platform X, as well as former CEO Linda Yaccarino. The probe centers on illegal content including sexual images of minors and Holocaust denial claims disseminated via Musk's AI chatbot, Grok.

The escalation follows a raid on X’s Paris office three months ago and a voluntary summons for questioning that Musk and Yaccarino ignored. Authorities are now threatening criminal charges if the two do not comply. If they fail to appear, preliminary charges may be filed in absentia.

Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau announced the move, stating the investigation aims to uphold the law and protect victims of online offenses. X has also refused a court order to hand over its algorithm.
