A fiery collision between a Valley Line LRT train and what appears to be a Tesla vehicle has shut down a major overpass in south Edmonton.
The crash occurred Tuesday afternoon at the 75/66 Street overpass over Whitemud Drive. The impact destroyed the vehicle and sparked a fire that sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
Edmonton police reported several road closures for the foreseeable future, including diversions on 66 Street and 75 Street and closures of both onramps from Whitemud Drive onto 66/75 Street. Whitemud Drive itself remains unaffected.
