Hyundai has halted sales and initiated a recall of over 60,000 2026 Palisade SUVs following the death of a 2-year-old girl in Ohio. The incident, under investigation, is tied to faulty power-folding second and third-row seats.
The automaker confirmed the affected models-2026 Palisade Limited and Calligraphy-may fail to detect occupants during seat folding, risking serious injury. Hyundai urges owners to avoid using power seat controls when passengers or objects are present.
A software update to improve contact detection is being developed and expected by end of March. Until then, Hyundai recommends using power seats only when the vehicle is empty. Rental vehicles will be offered during repairs.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is receiving finalized recall details as Hyundai works on a permanent fix.
