Kuwait announced Wednesday it had suspended commercial flights after an Iranian drone attack heavily damaged Kuwait International Airport's passenger building, causing injuries.

Defense Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi reported that hostile drones struck the terminal, severely damaging the structure and wounding several individuals.

The airport had only reopened Monday after closing in February due to the Iran war.

This is the latest in a series of Iranian attacks on Kuwait since the conflict began February 28. Previous strikes hit a US tactical operations center, killing six American soldiers, and damaged a government building in Kuwait City.

Late Tuesday, the US military retaliated by launching strikes on an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz.

The attack came after Iran claimed it had halted communications with mediators regarding a ceasefire, a claim President Trump disputed, stating talks were ongoing.

The Iran war is now increasingly linked to Israel's conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon, as Tehran demands any truce must also stop the fighting there.
