Israel has renewed its strikes on Beirut, targeting Hezbollah infrastructure across the capital. The Israeli military announced strikes in central Beirut and its southern suburbs. An Israeli army spokesperson accused Hezbollah of hiding funds under a targeted building in Bashoura. Another strike hit a financial firm linked to Hezbollah in downtown Beirut.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz ordered troops to "prepare for expanding" attacks in Lebanon and issued an evacuation warning for residents south of the Zahrani River. Katz stated Israel would "take the territory" if the Lebanese government could not prevent Hezbollah from firing towards Israel.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for attacks against Israel, including on an air defence system near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence. Lebanon was drawn into the wider Middle East conflict after Hezbollah retaliated for the killing of Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran's Revolutionary Guards confirmed a joint operation with Hezbollah against Israeli targets.
Violence has resulted in over 687 deaths in Lebanon, with more than 800,000 people displaced. An overnight strike on Beirut's beachfront killed 12 people and wounded 28. Another strike on a Lebanese University campus killed two professors.
