At least 10 people were killed and 50 wounded in Israeli strikes in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, according to security sources. The strikes, among the deadliest in eastern Lebanon recently, risk undermining the US-brokered ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated they struck Hezbollah command centers used to advance terror attacks and store weapons and funds. A senior Hezbollah official was reportedly among the dead. In a separate incident, the IDF also struck a Hamas command center in the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in southern Lebanon in response to ceasefire violations.
Israeli airstrikes earlier in the week targeted Hezbollah weapon depots and military sites in southern Lebanon, intended to disrupt the group's capabilities and contravene the November 2024 ceasefire. The IDF reports over 400 Hezbollah operatives have been killed since the ceasefire.
