Many Iranians in Manitoba are deeply worried about the safety of loved ones amid escalating conflict in Iran.

Majid Kermani, who lives in Manitoba, says he feels helpless watching his family suffer through bombings, internet blackouts, and hardship in Iran.

"Every day that you wake up, we don’t know if our family members… are safe or not," he said.

Another Iranian Canadian, Bijan Babaie, moved to Canada in 2021 and says communication with Iran has become nearly impossible.

"In the last 40 days, only three times we have received a call… and all the call is this, ‘Don’t worry, we are safe,’” he said.

Both men say they are haunted by the reality of war and pray for peace.
