Iran is arming Sudan's military with Mohajer-6 attack drones, worsening a civil war that has killed up to 400,000 people since April 2023, according to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. The conflict has triggered the world's worst displacement crisis, with over 11 million uprooted.
Both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are using drones against civilians, destroying hospitals and schools. The U.S. State Department condemned the attacks, and an Iranian-American woman was arrested at LAX for allegedly brokering a $70 million drone deal with Sudan's Defense Ministry.
UNICEF reported that drones are turning streets and hospitals into death traps for children. The State Department is working to limit Iran's influence in Sudan and protect civilians.
