Israel has struck Iran's largest petrochemical complex, the South Pars facility, in Assaluyeh. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz stated the site accounted for approximately 50 percent of Iran's petrochemical production.

This attack follows a similar strike on the Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Zone, which Israel claims has rendered facilities accounting for 85 percent of Iran's petrochemical exports inoperable. Katz described the actions as a "severe economic blow" to the Iranian regime.

Reports indicate that while some facilities experienced fires and power outages, the Pars petrochemical company itself reported no injuries, with the situation under control and under investigation. Additional strikes were also reported at a petrochemical complex in Marvdasht.

South Pars, located in the Persian Gulf, is the Iranian section of the world's largest offshore natural gas field, shared with Qatar. This escalation occurs as talks for a potential ceasefire in the broader Middle East conflict are reportedly underway, with various diplomatic proposals being discussed.
