Fleur Bakker's social enterprise, 'A Beautiful Mess,' is facilitating a smoother transition for refugees in Europe. The initiative offers paid job training in fashionable restaurants, welcoming individuals even if they do not speak the local language.

Founded eleven years ago with minimal capital, the company now operates eight restaurants and cafes across three cities. Bakker anticipates a 2026 turnover of five million euros, with approximately 300 individuals currently enrolled in training programs.

The organization receives backing from public authorities, the private sector, and mayors of major cities, recognizing the critical need for early refugee integration into the job market.

Ayman Momo, a Syrian refugee and former restaurateur, heads the newest 'A Beautiful Mess' location in Arnhem. His ambition is to expand the restaurant concept throughout Europe.

Arnhem's mayor, Ahmed Marcouch, emphasizes the importance of feeling welcome, receiving training, learning the language, adopting local culture, and engaging with the labor market for newcomers. 'A Beautiful Mess' actively supports these integration pillars through work, training, and community contact.
