Israeli forces have killed four members of a Palestinian family, including two young children, during a security operation in the northern West Bank town of Tammun.
The victims were identified as Ali and Waad Bani Odeh, and their children-five-year-old Mohammed and seven-year-old Othman. They were traveling in a car when Israeli forces opened fire.
Two other children, aged eight and eleven, survived with minor shrapnel injuries. The Israeli military claimed the vehicle accelerated toward troops, who felt threatened and responded with gunfire. It stated the incident is under investigation.
The Palestinian health ministry reported all four fatalities suffered gunshot wounds to the head and face. The Palestinian Red Crescent said medics were initially blocked from reaching the wounded.
Violence in the occupied West Bank has surged since Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023. According to UN data, at least 1,064 Palestinians, including 231 children, have been killed in the territory since then.
