Russia launched a sustained overnight assault on Kyiv with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, killing at least 13 people and injuring 86 more, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Damage was recorded at 30 locations, mostly residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. Emergency services deployed nearly 500 personnel and a helicopter to handle the aftermath. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed the strike targeted military plants.
In the wake of the attack, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked Washington for a license to manufacture Patriot missiles. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha urged allies to immediately supply air defense systems, warning the death toll may rise as rescue teams search the rubble.

The attack intensified in multiple districts. In the Darnytskyi district, six levels of a nine-story building collapsed. Rescuers extinguished fires in high-rises and private homes across Holosiivskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts, while people remained trapped in damaged structures in Desnianskyi.
