A Kenyan man has been charged with human trafficking in connection with a network that sent over 1,000 Kenyans to fight for the Russian army. Festus Omwamba, 33, founder of Global Face Human Resources, was arrested in Moyale and appeared in court. Prosecutors allege he recruited 22 Kenyan youths to Russia through deception for exploitation.
Authorities rescued 22 victims of human trafficking last September, and three others returned home injured from the Russia-Ukraine war. Omwamba pleaded not guilty, with his lawyer calling the case speculative. The Russian embassy in Kenya has denied the accusations.
