Lebanon's health ministry says Israeli airstrikes killed 12 people in the southern town of Habboush and Zrariyeh on May 1, despite a ceasefire in place since April 17.

Eight people died in Habboush, including a child and two women, with 21 wounded. Four others were killed in Zrariyeh. The Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for Habboush before the strikes, citing Hezbollah violations of the truce.

Hezbollah said it attacked Israeli troops in response to ceasefire breaches. The conflict began in March after Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel following the killing of Iran's supreme leader.

Lebanon now reports over 2,600 dead since early March, including 103 emergency workers.
