Despite a ceasefire in Lebanon, families are struggling to survive. More than 2,700 people have been killed since clashes began between Hezbollah and the Israeli military in March.

Women make up 25 of more than 380 killed since the April 17 ceasefire, highlighting ongoing dangers, according to UN Women. Regional director Moez Doraid says continued Israeli airstrikes and movement restrictions prevent most from returning home, with over half a million women and girls still displaced.

Speaking from Beirut, Doraid urged international support, noting that one woman was forced to forage wild herbs to feed her family. Food insecurity is deepening: an estimated 144,000 additional women face crisis-level hunger, bringing the total to 639,000.

Basic services-food, water, healthcare, education-remain dangerously disrupted. Some 1.2 million people have been displaced. The World Food Programme reports that less than 50% of its convoy requests to Israel are approved.

UN Women has supported over 15,000 women and girls since March, helping women leaders navigate the crisis and ensure their voices are heard in recovery efforts.
