The humanitarian crisis in Lebanon is intensifying as continued strikes target medical facilities. A recent attack near Hiram Hospital in Tyre injured ten staff members, marking the fifth incident at the site since March. According to the World Health Organization, 17 hospitals have sustained damage during the current escalation, including all three facilities in Tyre.
The human toll on the medical sector is severe. Reports confirm that 135 healthcare workers and first responders have been killed, with nearly 400 others injured. UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric expressed deep concern over the disruption of essential services, noting that humanitarian partners have delivered relief items to over 182,000 people since the conflict intensified.
Military activity remains high along the border. UNIFIL reported intensive air operations involving fighter jets and unmanned aerial systems, recording 72 airspace violations and eight airstrikes by Israeli aircraft in a single day. Peacekeepers tracked 531 trajectories, with the majority originating from Israeli positions south of the Blue Line.
Despite the volatile security environment, UNIFIL continues its mandate. Peacekeepers are coordinating with the Lebanese army to restore critical access routes. Engineering units have repaired roads and bridges in key areas such as Shama, Marjayoun, and Kfar Kila. Notably, Chinese peacekeepers reconstructed a vital bridge near Al Bayyadah, ensuring mobility for humanitarian aid amidst daily exchanges of fire and ground combat.
