The UN Security Council is holding an emergency session following major airstrikes across Iran by the United States and Israel. In response, Tehran has launched its own attacks throughout the Middle East. UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned ambassadors that the actions risk igniting uncontrollable events in the volatile region and urged that "everything must be done to prevent further escalation."
Tehran is now engaged in retaliatory strikes across the region.
