Nairobi, Kenya - At least 23 people have died following overnight flash floods in Kenya's capital, Nairobi. The severe weather has led to widespread disruption, including diversions at the country's primary airport.
Military forces have been deployed to assist as dozens of vehicles were swept away. Police officials warn the death toll may increase, with over 100 vehicles reported damaged.

Flights at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport experienced disruptions, with some diverted to Mombasa. Heavy rains, which began Friday and continued overnight, submerged vehicles and forced residents to seek higher ground.
Search and rescue teams are working to assist those stranded amidst the chaos. Some residents have attributed the flooding to clogged drainage systems.

The region has been experiencing heavy rainfall since late February, marking the start of its long rainy season. Further rain and thunderstorms are anticipated in the coming weeks.
