Dapper Labs announced it will stop issuing new NFTs for its NFL All Day platform, effective immediately. The firm says it has signed a new licensing agreement with the NFL and will reveal details closer to the next season.

Existing NFTs remain tradeable on the marketplace. Collectors can still open previously purchased packs, and Dapper Labs is introducing a “Founding Collector” label plus a 5% balance rebate on purchases held for at least one year.

The move triggered a surge in marketplace activity. Transaction data shows sales volumes jumped from under $10,000 prior to the announcement to over $32,000 on Wednesday and more than $53,000 on Thursday. Unique sellers spiked from under 100 to over 400.

Some collectors criticized the timing, noting that outstanding offers were accepted after the public announcement, effectively locking them into purchases they said they would not have made if they had known the platform was changing direction.

CEO Roham Gharegozlou said the company remains committed to digital collectibles with cultural value but stressed the need to protect the ownership economy as the category evolves.
