Afghanistan's Taliban government confirmed a Pakistani airstrike struck a drug rehabilitation hospital in Kabul late Monday, killing at least 400 people and injuring 250. Deputy spokesperson Hamdullah Fitrat said the 2,000-bed facility was heavily damaged around 9 p.m. local time.

Afghan spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid stated victims were patients. Pakistan rejected the claim, with Information Minister Attaullah Tarar asserting its military conducted precision strikes on military targets-including technical infrastructure and ammunition storage-in Kabul and Nangarhar.

The attack follows cross-border fire that killed four Afghans and escalates tensions after Pakistan declared open war on February 27. The hostilities have shattered a Qatar-brokered ceasefire from October.
