At least 20 people are dead and 70 more injured after an explosion ripped through a train carrying military personnel in southwestern Pakistan.
The blast occurred Sunday morning at Chaman Phatak station in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. Railway officials say three coaches and the engine were derailed, with two overturned. The train was carrying service members and their families returning home for Eid.
The Balochistan Liberation Army, or BLA, claimed responsibility, calling it a suicide bombing. Pakistani officials have not confirmed that. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, calling it an act of cowardly terrorism.
Hospitals in the region have declared a state of emergency. The death toll is expected to climb.

The BLA has targeted trains in Balochistan before, accusing the federal government of exploiting the province's rich mineral resources without benefiting the local population. Balochistan covers nearly 44% of Pakistan's land but is home to only five percent of its 240 million people.
Violence between BLA fighters and security forces has escalated in recent months, with 31 civilians killed in February.
